“In all stories lie kernels of truth.”

My writing

As an unpublished author, having an entire section of my website devoted to my own writing is something of an exercise in pretension (not to mention futility), but it is, after all, my website. So. Here we are.

I write because I have to, because there are stories etching themselves in the deeper recesses of my mind that I feel compelled to tell. I write what I would want to read; therefore, I write about normal people living in extraordinary times and places and coming face-to-face with the wonders of their respective universes. Sci-fi and fantasy are the bread and butter. Maybe butter and bread. As a student of the ancient history of the eastern Mediterranean, much of my work is colored by what we know of those who lived there and then.

Below are mentioned the works I am most proud of, and any current projects. Visit the blog, if you’re a chirping-crickets kind of person.

Novels

My novels are of the fantasy persuasion. Though there are far too many incredible authors to list here, favorite influences include Ursula K. Le Guin and Scott Lynch.

  • My first novel. A fisherman living in an archipelago shadowed by the storm that rings around it finds a map to a lost city. In seeking it, he inadvertently reawakens ancient magics and wars. Inspired by the Atlantis legend.

It is “done”, meaning “done for now”, meaning “unpublished”.

  • Two unlikely heroes seek the same artifact, the source of the ruling elites’ power. What they find will bend the laws of time, and usher in a new era.

This one is in the final editing stages, and is soon to be queried.

Short stories

My short story writing is a mix of fantasy and sci-fi.

  • An astronomer in the near future leaves a ruined Earth aboard a spaceship, while recalling memories of fleeing the Sea Peoples during the Bronze Age Collapse.

    Unpublished.

  • A man sending messages to his past self begins to question the endeavor.

    Unpublished.

  • The prophesied devourer of the world attends a banquet and questions his life.

    Unpublished.

  • Two starkly different beings live through a horrid war.

    Unpublished, but on submission.
