Another day, another short story.

…is what someone might say if they were way more prolific than I am. But hey—I did, in fact, write another short story! And I intend to be proud of that fact. It’s called The World-Eater, and it may well be my best yet. (Maybe not, but it’s definitely not my worst, so that’s something.) I finished it a while back and it’s since gone through a couple editing rounds.

Getting back into daily writing has been slow going. The only way I was able to write The Last Son of Tanmara was by sticking rigidly to a six-days-a-week writing schedule, aiming for at least 500 new or edited words a day. I have not yet gotten there, but I see The World-Eater as evidence that I could if I, like, really, really wanted to.

And I do want to. So, here is my public affirmation—if one can consider digitally screaming into a void filled with precisely no one public—that I’m aiming for that daily writing goal, and the next thing I want to tackle is my next novel. It’s really kind of exciting, and, having finished a novel and several short stories, not as daunting as it maybe would have been once upon a time.

Here’s hoping you (whoever you are, internet ghost) will get to read The World-Eater in a short story magazine soon. If not, hey; it’ll still be on my Google Drive when I die.
